Canada Post updates

Canada Post workers announce strike - all services have been shut down

Canada Post operations have been shut down. Mail will not be delivered for the duration of the strike. Service guarantees are suspended for items already in the postal network and no new items will be accepted until the national disruption is over.

During a mail disruption, you are expected to continue paying bills on time. Be sure you don’t miss any deadlines. In the event of a disruption now and in the future, you can easily pay bills by calling our Member Service Centre or through online and mobile banking. If you receive any cheques by mail – including government cheques – you can set up direct deposit for convenience and to avoid any delays.

Please be aware of the following during a Canada Post service disruption

  • Paper monthly/quarterly statements and anything sent through the mail – including debit cards and credits cards from FirstOntario – could be delayed.
  • Visa statements sent by mail could also experience delays.
  • Members who enroll in online banking can view account history and electronic statements anytime. eStatements are secure, easy to access and you don’t have to wait for mail. Register today.
  • Through online banking, you can also complete many transactions including paying bills and depositing cheques using our mobile app on your smartphone. Download the app.
