Lucy Morton

A lifelong resident of Hamilton, Lucy has been married for over 35 years, has three children and two granddaughters. Lucy has been a Credit Union member since the original opening under the “Stelco Credit Union” name. She has worked as a community nurse for the Victorian Order of Nurses since 1982 and has also been the Local President of OPSEU 269 (Victorian Order of Nurses) since that time.

In 2013, Lucy was elected to sit as an Executive Board member for the Provincial, OPSEU (Ontario Public Service Employees Union) Board. She is now the Regional Vice President of Region 2, which goes from Fort Erie, wrapping around the Golden Horseshoe, Kitchener, Milton to North of Owen Sound.

Lucy participated within the community as a Board member of both the Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers (OCHOW) and the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre Museum (WAC). Previously, she was also the Vice-President of the Hamilton District Labour Council.

Lucy possesses the experience and knowledge that is required when working with multiple levels of discipline and external forces that bring us together toward a common goal. Her knowledge of the credit union system continues to grow with her experience on FirstOntario’s Board of Directors.

Lucy has had the privilege of being able to take part in the growth and advancement of FirstOntario. She has witnessed FirstOntario successfully meet the financial needs of our members, while also reaching out to our communities. Lucy is very proud of FirstOntario’s contributions to our community programs, sponsorships, events and especially to our employee volunteer program, Blue Wave. Lucy is also a Credit Union Director Achievement (CUDA) program graduate.

Lucy’s years as a Board Member have been challenging and rewarding. She is proud and honoured to have been a Board member for the last twelve years.
